Walter Bogad

Walter Bogad was introduced to oil painting by his uncle, Charles Johner, who was a graduate of the National Academy of Design. They often painted landscapes in and around the northeast. Initially, Bogad was thrilled to get a likeness of the subject he was painting. As he developed artistically, Bogad learned to bring forth a reality that evokes the vision and feeling of the subject. His intent is to create for the viewer a sense of place which one would like to return to.

Bogad enjoyed the practice of orthodontics for 37 years. On Wednesdays, he took courses`at the Art Student’s League with Terrance Coyle (figure study) and at the Ducret School of the Arts with Dr. Furman Finck (portraiture), William Senior (watercolor), and Brian Townsend (landscape). At present, Bogad is co-chair of the summer shows for the Housatonic Valley Art League. He lives in South Egremont, Massachusetts with his wife, Suzanne. In the winter they reside in Lake Worth, Florida.
